Toni is a native New Orleanian. Early on it was evident that she possessed a flare for art. At the age of 15 she began designing logos for the businesses of family and friends. At 17 she had the distinction of designing the logo for the Trans Alaskan Pipeline employee shirts worn in Camp Crazy Horse in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska! During summer breaks she worked at a screen print business designing and cutting by hand the screens used for printing.
After high school Toni went to work at a large local printing company in the art department designing and drawing business forms. In the early 90’s Toni was hired by a nationwide print distributing company as a manager. Seeing what was required to design commercial print items she set about learning the software used and the knowledge necessary to become a graphic designer. Eventually Toni opened her own company that supplied Louisiana and Mississippi’s casino industry with their printed products.
In 2016 she started painting and drawing for her own pleasure. Little by little she accumulated a small following. Today, Toni competes in many local art competitions and has earned multiple awards for her work. In early 2019 she was named Jefferson Art Guild’s Artist of the Year. Later that same year she was named Metairie Art Guild’s Artist of the year!
Toni says she owes her success to the local guilds. They are a place to go and learn from artist both old and new and all eager to help a struggling newcomer.
Today you can usually find Toni in her studio creating what she loves. Bright and vibrant colors are her hallmark. If you ask her she will tell you “I really don’t have a style.
I love all types of art, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels...anything. Sometimes I just want to throw some glitter around on perhaps a found item or two!”.
